Theatre I

This introductory theatre course will focus on creative expression through theatrical performance and technical design. Students will be introduced to different acting techniques,  movement & body control, and proper vocalization methods. Students will also learn parts of the stage, how to develop/analyze their characters, and also how to work with other actors on the stage (duet scenes). Students will also explore historical and cultural studies of theatre.

*Theatre I students will put on their own 6th Grade Showcase at the end of the year.

 

*Students in Theatre I are encouraged to audition for productions in the Spring! The more practice you get auditioning, the better. Please see Mrs. Martin if you are interested.

Theatre II

This intermediate theatre course is an extension and further exploration of the concepts and training covered in Theatre I. Students of Theatre II will refine skills in theatrical creative expression including but not limited to acting techniques, character analysis, stage performance, and musical theatre. Levels of expectations and approaches will vary depending on the assignment and the class.

Theatre Playbill

The prerequisite for this course is Theatre Arts I and teacher approval. To be admitted into Playbill, you must first complete an audition. Click here for Playbill audition information!

 

This class will build upon the foundations of Theatre I and II by furthuring acting technique and stage performance skills, but we will add on explorations of musical/play production in depth through devising, designing, self application, and public performance.

 

*Playbill students are required to audition and participate in all productions as well as the annual UIL One Act Competition (if applicable),*
